Located in the serene & picturesque Palos Verdes Peninsula of Southern California, all Sommer Designs Handbags are made from scratch in a smoke-free studio. Each handbag is created by hand, with great care and attention to detail. The Background Story: Owned and operated by Carrie Sommer, Sommer Designs began humbly in 1999 as a Web Design Studio. Over the years they have developed many fabulous websites. "As more businesses achieved their web presence, and more software became available for users of all skills, I found myself with a little more time on my hands. Being the "Type A" that I am, I had to find another outlet for my creativity. I have always loved fabric ~ the texture, the colors, the patterns ~ and combining colors and patterns appealed to my designing eye."

One day Carrie made a unique diaper bag for a friend. One thing led to another, and more bags were requested, designed, made and shown off ~ conversations were started, business cards changed hands, and the orders started coming in. Carrie realized this was the perfect opportunity to switch gears.

We have been lucky in that we have developed a large local following. Word of mouth, roving eyes and some very devoted clients have spread the word and made quite a fashion statement at the same time!
